Today is my day!

So on my way to work I opted for the radio. Louisville's WFPK. It's a radio station with actual disk jockies who select the music they play. Miracle of miracles!! So on the way to work they played Beck, I can't remember which song anymore, and when I got to work I wanted to hear the rest of the song, so I quickly turned on the radio. It was over but Elvis Costello's Useless Beauty was on. Then they played Old 97s, Feist, Van Morrison ...the good stuff. And just a few minutes ago they playe Half Acre by Hem.

It's musical mayhem!!! I might start to hyperventilate...... in a good way. WooHoo!

Holy Hail Mary!

Recoleta, originally uploaded by hundreds of sparrows.

This was taken in Argentina at the Recoleta (where Evita is buried). The entire place was really intense and I think this really captures that.

Also, by the way, I took zero pictures while I was camping. That's a big goose egg. Someday I will have pictures of the big south fork. It's just too pretty not to.

Yesss!!!

Yesss!!!

My only regret in Argentina is that I didn't try one of these. Ok, that's a lie, my biggest regret in Argentina is missing the night we went to a milonga (sp) which is a tango club. My silly back gave out. But a close second regret is definitely not eating one of these little mofos.

Headed Camping

This weekend me and a ton of other people are heading up to the Big South Fork. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Me, C., Stephanie, and Maggie are going kayaking as well. I'm so excited! Soon there will be photos.

Other news:

Check out Maggie's blog. She has the best halloween post ever.

The Scoop makes me really happy, especially because they reminded me about OplusD.

My new favorite blog.

Argentina's McDonalds

McD's
Originally uploaded by hundreds of sparrows.
So, If I got puffy sleeves and cute McAss jeans, I'd work at McDonald's! The burgers are actually burgers too...they are really good. We wanted to compare something that is standard here in the states. I think it's sort of fun to check out fast food (if only once) in other countries because it's always just a little different.

Tag!! I'm it.

Ok, so I've been tagged by Maggie and Rebekah. It was no surprise to be tagged by Maggie because well, I know her and see her pretty much every day...ok maybe every other day. I don't want to brag, but you should be jealous because she's great. Man am I rambling because my point is that it was exciting to be tagged by Rebekah because I don't know who she is and someone is really reading my blog?!?!! Thanks Bekah!

Ok, so here are the rules:
The rules:

Write 7 random facts/habits about yourself on your blog.

Choose another 7 people to get tagged and list their names (then make sure you go to those people's blogs to let them know they're "it").

#1 It's going to be somewhat easy to come up with six more random things about myself after this but what will be very hard is tagging 7 other people. I don't get to spend much time on the internet so I don't read that many blogs (this is really because of my job, not because I don't want to read blogs), so if you get tagged it's because I hunted you down and like your blog....which probaby means you are fantastic. (pat on back) I'm a pretty good judge of character.

#2 I don't have cable, but I get about 11 channels. At night for some reason ABC has subtitles. In Spanish. I can't figure out why, and I can't turn it off.

#3 I just spent a week in Argentina with my beau. It was pretty amazing. If I ever get my act together I'll blog about it. Some things you should know: The busses will take off even if you only have one foot in the bus. They don't clean up much of the dog poop off the sidewalk. Look Out! Eat Beef.

#4 My grandmother was in the Zeigfield Follies. She was so beautiful and told the best stories about broadway. I have always wanted to have a show displaying some of her vintage clothes and do lots of "flapper" artwork. It hasn't happened yet.

#5 I have a hard time getting myself to be productive outside of work hours....that show I just spoke of...it might be a long way off.

#6 Despite what I just told you, I was double majored in Architecture and Interior Design...and took as many fine art classes as I could fit in. This ended up being Foundry, Foundry, printmaking, and Foundry.

#7 I make bronze and aluminum baby dresses. They are great. I have one for sale at etsy....

Dang! That was way easier than I thought it would be (even if I said it would be easy...I had doubts). I'm going to go ahead and post this and will tag people later. Yah, I'm lazy.

The Hectivity!

So, it's been a minute since I've been here. I've apparently been tagged by Maggie and Rebekah. Who knew people were reading my blog. I'm at work on my lunchbreak, so my listio will be a few minutes away (read minutes as DAYS).

Since my last post I've Finally been kayaking, and I've been to Argentina. Yes, I said Aaarrggggentina! As soon as life gets back to normal and my bags get unpacked I'll be talking all about it on here.

Later yo!

This whole, trying to sell your stuff, thing is so new to me, but very exciting!! Woohoo! Go me!

Hello Again!

So, yeah, I'm gonna make excuses for my lack of blogging. My back gave out and my car died, and I almost choked to death on cornbread, and Darth Vader cut off my had with a light saber. (That last one might not be true...but the rest are!! Dammit). Really, I just might be lazy. Despite that, I wanted to share some of my latest finds. I got what is possibly the most amazing lamp at a yard sale for $10. Holy smokes! Is it fantastic or what! Check it out. It was my friend Sonia's grandmother's.
The view above is my current favorite view in my apt. Next to the lamp is a painting of my father as a boy done by my grandfather, and a wood block print of a volcano I did a few years ago. (yeah yeah yeah, I know I need a lampshade and some curtains, I'm a little indecisive is all.)

I also got these fantastic glasses and a blanket for my couch (called fake jammies- this is too long of a story to tell here).
There you go. Hope everyone had nice weekends!

Don't Talk About It, Be About It!

I've spent quite a bit of time the last two days at Cherokee Park. It's so wonderful to be out again. Rudy loves to run! That little brown blur is him. He's usually the fastest dog at the park. Hell yes I'm bragging.

The graffiti at the park (though I have mixed feelings about graffiti) is usually really great!

And, the fact that everything is turning green again doesn't hurt anything either.
One last note....going kayaking tomorrow!! Can't wait.

Don't talk about it! BE about it!!

What should I do with these?

I used my new sewing machine to outline these chairs. I love them but I don't know what I'll do with them. The little chair is on leather. I have old leather samples from work that I'm thinking about making into cuffs. Maybe an embroidered cuff would be good. Ooooh.

In a rut.

So, I was just thinking to myself, "I'm in a rut." Which of course gets me thinking about tire tracks. So I google image rut, thinking tire tracks will come up. But I found something OH so much better. It was necessary to share. This of course came from the Ottawa Duck Club. Is anyone else in a rut today?

Spring Fever

So there was an amazing storm today. It poured down rain and there was lots of thunder. The kind you only get in spring. The kind that makes you feel like your heart is melting and you want to sing and jump in puddles. I of course was stuck inside and it stopped raining before I could change into puddle jumping clothes. I used to work at a cemetery (one of my favorite jobs...no, I was not a gravedigger, I was a landscaper) and I would love the rainy days because if your already soaked, there's absolutely no reason to attempt dryness, ergo puddle jumping is inevitable.

But my mind wanders. What today was for me was day 52 until paddling season starts. My best friends and I go canoeing/ kayaking on derby day. That's May 5....Cinqo de Mayo...WATER!!

Here's Rudy and I last year on the Elkhorn. I'm a little worried all the crafting I've been doing will be gone this summer.

I found this website, "Kula's Louisville Outdoor Areas" and want to explore all these places: http://homepages.ius.edu/MWILMES/hiking.htm
It was nice to find a site that mentions places close to Louisville to camp and canoe...usually I have to head east for all that. CRC and I are going to go hiking this weekend. I think we'll pick somewhere Kula suggests.

Speaking of water, I was sailing in a sea of buttons all evening.

One more round

So, I'm back. The first time around wasn't so bad, even if I've yet to tell anyone about my fresh new blog. I'm going to tell my whole big audience of one about what I worked on this weekend. I'm I LOVE with this bracelet.

You can't really see the curlyques at the ends. But dang! Cute. I made another sailboat bracelet that I'm hoping to post on etsy this evening. Check it out!

Oh my goodness, Oh my goodness!!!

So here it is....oh wait, this font is bad... that's better... and even better... My First Blog!!! So why am I here you might ask? Well, let's not get existential so quickly. I'm only here to talk about stuff I like, and to force myself to MAKE stuff. I might talk about my pets every once in a while, and about paddling. But my goal is to talk all about crafty goodness. Mine and others. Also, you may notice an obvious need to improve my writing skills. Well, they say practice makes perfect.

So, for "My First Blog!!!" I'm going to show you this fantastic pillow I made for my beau (for any of you non-southerners, that's boyfriend). That's Rudy the wonderdog along side.

AHHHH!!! Bats...and on the back, Chairs. Yes Chairs and bats. Of course. So I ran out of bat fabric. But......... (dramatic pause) ...... I did put a zipper in there !!! Woohoo! And, I made that red cording myself. This isn't my typical sort of craftiness, but you'll see more of that later.
