The Next Big Thing

So I entered this ship bracelet in Fred Flare's Next Big Thing contest. It's a pretty exciting thing. If you haven't been to Fred Flare, check it out. They have amazing stuff.

This whole, trying to sell your stuff, thing is so new to me, but very exciting!! Woohoo! Go me!

Hello Again!

So, yeah, I'm gonna make excuses for my lack of blogging. My back gave out and my car died, and I almost choked to death on cornbread, and Darth Vader cut off my had with a light saber. (That last one might not be true...but the rest are!! Dammit). Really, I just might be lazy. Despite that, I wanted to share some of my latest finds. I got what is possibly the most amazing lamp at a yard sale for $10. Holy smokes! Is it fantastic or what! Check it out. It was my friend Sonia's grandmother's.
The view above is my current favorite view in my apt. Next to the lamp is a painting of my father as a boy done by my grandfather, and a wood block print of a volcano I did a few years ago. (yeah yeah yeah, I know I need a lampshade and some curtains, I'm a little indecisive is all.)

I also got these fantastic glasses and a blanket for my couch (called fake jammies- this is too long of a story to tell here).
There you go. Hope everyone had nice weekends!

Don't Talk About It, Be About It!

I've spent quite a bit of time the last two days at Cherokee Park. It's so wonderful to be out again. Rudy loves to run! That little brown blur is him. He's usually the fastest dog at the park. Hell yes I'm bragging.

The graffiti at the park (though I have mixed feelings about graffiti) is usually really great!

And, the fact that everything is turning green again doesn't hurt anything either.
One last note....going kayaking tomorrow!! Can't wait.

Don't talk about it! BE about it!!

What should I do with these?

I used my new sewing machine to outline these chairs. I love them but I don't know what I'll do with them. The little chair is on leather. I have old leather samples from work that I'm thinking about making into cuffs. Maybe an embroidered cuff would be good. Ooooh.

In a rut.

So, I was just thinking to myself, "I'm in a rut." Which of course gets me thinking about tire tracks. So I google image rut, thinking tire tracks will come up. But I found something OH so much better. It was necessary to share. This of course came from the Ottawa Duck Club. Is anyone else in a rut today?

Spring Fever

So there was an amazing storm today. It poured down rain and there was lots of thunder. The kind you only get in spring. The kind that makes you feel like your heart is melting and you want to sing and jump in puddles. I of course was stuck inside and it stopped raining before I could change into puddle jumping clothes. I used to work at a cemetery (one of my favorite jobs...no, I was not a gravedigger, I was a landscaper) and I would love the rainy days because if your already soaked, there's absolutely no reason to attempt dryness, ergo puddle jumping is inevitable.

But my mind wanders. What today was for me was day 52 until paddling season starts. My best friends and I go canoeing/ kayaking on derby day. That's May 5....Cinqo de Mayo...WATER!!

Here's Rudy and I last year on the Elkhorn. I'm a little worried all the crafting I've been doing will be gone this summer.

I found this website, "Kula's Louisville Outdoor Areas" and want to explore all these places: http://homepages.ius.edu/MWILMES/hiking.htm
It was nice to find a site that mentions places close to Louisville to camp and canoe...usually I have to head east for all that. CRC and I are going to go hiking this weekend. I think we'll pick somewhere Kula suggests.

Speaking of water, I was sailing in a sea of buttons all evening.

One more round

So, I'm back. The first time around wasn't so bad, even if I've yet to tell anyone about my fresh new blog. I'm going to tell my whole big audience of one about what I worked on this weekend. I'm I LOVE with this bracelet.

You can't really see the curlyques at the ends. But dang! Cute. I made another sailboat bracelet that I'm hoping to post on etsy this evening. Check it out!
